Sin has always been a problem for man. In fact, sin has been man’s problem. Sin separates us from GOD. We cannot experience GOD’s love for us when we have sin separating us from HIS fellowship, but how do we bridge that gap of separation? How do we find HIS forgiveness and come back into that right relationship which HE intended? Let us see what John says.
In v5-6, John speaks of GOD as light and we realize that he using light as a symbol of fellowship. What does darkness symbolize for man? What brings darkness to man’s life?
According to v7, what is the reason we can be in the light, or fellowship of GOD?
How then, basically sinful as we are, can we find forgiveness from GOD, and in turn find HIS fellowship again? (v9)
According to Paul in Romans 6:23, the price of sin is death, but the free gift of GOD is eternal life. According to both Paul and John, who must we depend upon for eternal life with GOD?
According to John in v7,8, when we sin as Christians, what do we lose?
