Overcoming Tempation. Hebrews 2:14-18
Temptation has been a problem for Christians. We often wonder if temptation is sin, and, if not, where does sin begin? These questions plague our minds for we want to do what is right, but we also usually want to do what we think might be more fun. How a Christian deals with temptation is no new problem, so let us look at Paul’s thoughts on temptation.
Who does Paul say is subject to slavery, and to whom?
Why did JESUS subject HIMSELF to temptation?
According to Paul in Hebrews 4:15-16, how does JESUS help us during temptation?
In v14, Paul says JESUS subjected HIMSELF to death to overcome Satan. Do we have to do the same? If so, who must die for us to overcome Satan and his temptations?
Application:
According to Paul in Romans 6:1-11, why must we die to ourselves? What does Paul assure us will happen if we die to ourselves? According to v6,7, what is our relationship to sin?
